1/21/2021 0 Comments Art 2d-Final ReflectionMy best artwork this year was my painting of Itasca. I like the realisticness of it, and I was happy to learn new painting techniques. I would like to redo my self portrait because i wanted it to be more realistic. Something I learned in art class is that even when you make a mistake you can turn it into a good thing. I wish we could've studied realism.

My artwork is a portrait of myself, but instead of lines I put words as the details. I have a green tank top and a purple background that is drawn very lightly in colored pencil. My face looks more serious in the picture/I have a straight face. I wanted to show my identity but not just in my appearance. I wanted to dig deeper and be more creative, so I added the describing words. I added pieces of my personality and things I like. I think my artwork is okay, but I could definitely work on technique for portraits. I added a picture of myself at the bottom for reference.
1/7/2021 0 Comments January 07th, 2021I started off with the idea that I would put all the words describing who I am in and big heart. I wanted to chalk pastel the outside of the heart going to the outside of the page. My other option is to try to draw a realistic portrait of myself but with a twist. Instead of lines, I wanted to use words to make the details. I am using the studio habits envision, and engage and persist because I know it will be hard. I sketched my face without the words, so my next step will be adding the words.
12/18/2020 0 Comments Winter Holidays Project-Metallic BowI chose to draw a metallic bow with colored pencils. I wanted it to look more shiny but with the time and products I had(and didn't) it was difficult. I'm impressed I was able to get it as realistic as I did. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
12/17/2020 0 Comments Collage PostThis artwork I really had to envision what I wanted it to look like. I knew I wanted black, white, and silver as my colors. I cut apart my dance magazine. I also had to engage and persist because for awhile I did not like how it was turning out. I trusted the process and kept adding stuff, and in the end it turned out cool.
12/11/2020 0 Comments Artist Statement- Landscape PaintingMy painting is of Itasca State Park at the headwaters. There are rocks with moss on them separating a lake and the Mississippi. There is some dry grass in the back. The treeline is behind the grass. There is a big rock making a small waterfall. I started a sketch on paper, then on a canvas. I used acrylic paint. I took a photograph in Itasca and replicated it in a painting. Its special to me because I went there with my grandparents and sister. My goals for this artwork was to get it fairly realistic. I also wanted to add a bunch of detail. I really liked the way my artwork turned out. There definitely were some mistakes that I tried to fix, but overall I love how it turned out.
12/7/2020 0 Comments Landscape PaintingI put my reference photo in my last blog post. Since then I have gotten 3/4 of the way through my painting. I'm working on the more intricate details. My two studio habits I have been working on is observing and developing craft. I'm observing by focusing on the small details, and developing craft by learning new techniques.
11/6/2020 0 Comments Painting Boot CampIn painting boot camp, I have been working on different techniques and mixing acrylic and watercolor paint. I am developing my craft by learning how to mix paint from the four basic colors plus white and black. I am also developing my craft by learning new techniques. Pictured below is my mind map for my next painting. 10/23/2020 1 Comment 10/23/20- Dan BruggemanDan Bruggemans art is of nature but with man made structures in it. He get inspiration from the Hudson River painters.
10/19/2020 0 Comments Artist Statement- The ObjectMy artwork is of my ceramic cross. I drew it in black and white, with green fading in the background. I added lots of highlights and contrast to the cross using black and white charcoal. I used a tortillion to blend the shadows and highlights. I also used a paper towel to blend the chalk pastel I used in the background. This artwork is special to me because of the meaning behind the cross. The cross to me resembles Jesus love for us. My goals for this artwork is to experiment with more tools and methods, and also create a more realistic drawing. I am overall happy with my artwork, but I definitely could use improvement.
