I added lots of highlights and contrast to the cross using black and white charcoal. I used a tortillion to blend the shadows and highlights. I also used a paper towel to blend the chalk pastel I used in the background. This artwork is special to me because of the meaning behind the cross. The cross to me resembles Jesus love for us. My goals for this artwork is to experiment with more tools and methods, and also create a more realistic drawing. I am overall happy with my artwork, but I definitely could use improvement.

Thiebaud uses many thinking drawings to make more interesting compositions and looks at them to decide which one he wants to do. His preparatory sketches related to his final composition because he explores the layouts of objects and looks at the use of light, color, and patterns, making his final decision. In his artwork, Row of Ties the ties on the right is hanging away from the other ones, and I think he did that to make the composition more interesting and that ties has a more busy pattern. The prompt I chose was drawing my favorite desert and depicting the texture. My observation drawing was of my perfume and I added my lamp in the back.
