10/13/2020 0 Comments 10/13/20- The Artists Process A thinking drawing is a sketch. Thiebaud uses many thinking drawings to make more interesting compositions and looks at them to decide which one he wants to do. His preparatory sketches related to his final composition because he explores the layouts of objects and looks at the use of light, color, and patterns, making his final decision. In his artwork, Row of Ties the ties on the right is hanging away from the other ones, and I think he did that to make the composition more interesting and that ties has a more busy pattern. The prompt I chose was drawing my favorite desert and depicting the texture. My observation drawing was of my perfume and I added my lamp in the back.

9/30/2020 0 Comments 9/30/2020This week the two studios habits I am working on is observing and envisioning. I am currently observing "the object" which is a ceramic cross. It has a lot of small details, curves, and textures. I am envisioning what my final artwork will look like. Right now I am working on my rough draft and the sketch of the cross. I'm trying to foreshadow what I want the background to look like and what materials I want to use.

One studio habit I have been working on is stretch and exploring. We have been testing out new materials and methods. I tried pen and ink for the first time. I also tried oil pastels mixed with baby oil to paint. I also worked on observing. I have been working on observing the objects in front of me and noticing all the little details. I also observed some new techniques with pencil, oil pastel, and pen and ink. It works best to drag pen and ink then push it across the paper. You can make a cool watercolor effect with oil pastels by drawing with the pastel then putting baby oil and blending. You can blend pencils by scumbling and smudging.

9/10/2020 0 Comments Goals for a new semesterI would really like to become better at art. I'm excited to learn new techniques. I am going to try to branch out on the supplies I use and try different styles/types of art. One of my goals is to try to remain positive instead of critical of my art. Some of the things I recently tried drawing and liked was flowers. It is really fun to look up the inspo drawings and make them my own.
